Servicemen
A nomination for conferral of an honour on a Dutch serviceman can be submitted to the mayor of the town where he or she lives.

In addition, the nomination can also be submitted directly to the minister of Defence. This possibility has been included in the Rules especially for Dutch servicemen living abroad and with a formal place of residence in the Netherlands. In general, it is only used by the commander of the unit of the armed forces to which the candidate belongs.

The remaining procedure for the nomination is the same as the general procedure.
